I was having a conversation the other day with my best friend sara and we were discussing how we as individuals always tend to carry on the sufferings of others on our shoulders. Meaning that, we as individuals are always a part of a group, that group being family, friends, student body, or a company. No matter how hard we try to stay individualistic we are at the end a part of a larger collective group, and we consequently burden ourselves with the troubles of our group. To keep this post short and informative we came to the conclusion that it’s not insensitive or selfish to think of yourself sometimes even if on that account you might sacrifice the needs of the group, because there is only so much weight a person can handle. You would want to do all you can for the people you care about because you know they deserve it and mostly being out of love or respect, but as this weight adds on you start blowing up like a balloon and before you know it, you simply pop.
On this note, it's sometimes useful to be like a rock instead of a balloon.
